An impressive career can conceal some of the darkest stories beneath. Lolo Jones, winner of USA and World hurdle championships has achieved this title after a long period of dedication and patience. Jones' childhood was difficult because she was the sole child of a mother in a large family. Her mother was constantly shifting and even was a resident in the basement. Jones was required to go to an entirely new high school every year due to her nomadic lifestyle. Jones who was interested in the track events in Theodore Roosevelt High School, was able to live far from her mother to follow her passion. Jones lived in four distinct homes during her time in high school, so she could complete her studies in the same place. Jones was part of both the Iowa School Orchestra as well as the Gatorade Track and Field Award. Also, she was awarded this prize in high school.
